Start-ups are getting a boost from the Korean government.
The Small and Medium Business Administration says it has allocated 2.6 billion won or about 2.3 million U.S. dollars to support entrepreneurs in Korea.
Beginning Wednesday, the government group will grant about 45-thousand U.S. dollars to 50 different start-ups.
In order to apply for the grants, businesses will be expected to prove they are "innovative", and that their products have consumer appeal.
Only firms set up since the start of 2011 will be eligible.
The grants are being offered as the number of start-ups in Korea is on the decline.
The government says 850 start-ups in Korea have shut down since last May.
