Through the end of September, Wyoming Entrepreneur's Small Business Development Center will offer a free, 10-session online course to enhance financial control for small businesses. The course is available to any business open for more than six months that otherwise meet the application criteria.
Since more than 90 percent of all business failures can be attributed to poor financial management, "Profit Mastery: Get Control of your Finances" seeks to enlighten business owners who understand profit and loss while forgetting about the crucial balance sheet.
"People go, 'How come I made a profit and I don't have any money?' " said Regional Director Marjorie Rowell. "It's working on the business, instead of in the business. It's a crash finance class for your business."
The program is a $395 value, comes with a workbook and is offered free through a national funding grant through the Small Business Jobs Act, though funding will only last through September.
"There's quite a lot [of funding,]" said Cindy Unger, business advisor at Wyoming Entrepreneur. "We're not gonna be turning people down, I'm sure."
Additionally, qualifying businesses will be able to receive one-on-one support from the Small Business Development Center if they so choose.
