MILLVILLE – The Millville Public Library at 210 Buck Street recently was designated a “Job Seeker Library” by the New Jersey State Library.
The designation is part of a program called NJWorks@yourlibrary.
The staff are able to help patrons find a job by locating job listings, helping with a resume or directing patrons to a resume class, helping fill out an online job application including setting up an email account, helping patrons use specialty databases such as Career Transitions, Job & Career Accelerator, Career Gateway, and Jobs 4 Jersey, and helping find small business resources and job training opportunities.
NJWorks@yourlibrary is a campaign developed by the New Jersey State Library to showcase the resources and opportunities being offered through the Broadband Technology Opportunity Program grant received by the New Jersey State Library.
NJWorks.org now is clearinghouse for a number of job-related resources, support groups, and training available at libraries and other community centers across the state.
For more information, the public can visit, www.NJWorks.org and/or ask for assistance from the Reference Desk at the Millville Public Library either in person or by telephone (856) 825-7087, ext.12.
Salem planning grant workshop
SALEM – Salem County Freeholder Director Julie Acton announced that the New Jersey Council for the Humanities will present a grant proposal workshop in the Old Salem County Courthouse here on March 28.
The workshop will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public, but space is limited.
“Our recently restored historic courthouse provides as especially attractive and appropriate place for this event,” Acton said.
The workshop is one of three to be held in the state this spring. It will introduce prospective applicants to New Jersey Council for the Humanities’ grant guidelines and address common proposal questions.
“Nonprofit organizations interested in sponsoring public humanities projects, such as local history events and civic discussion programs, are invited to attend,” New Jersey Council for the Humanities grant officer Robert Apgar said. “Grants ranging from $500 to $20,000 are awarded by NJCH throughout the year.”
More information is available at www.njch.org/grants.html. To reserve a spot, call (888)-394-6524 or email grants@njch.org.
